Tour Details

  • DAY 1 | ARRIVE MEXICO CITY

Arrival at Mexico City International Airport is followed by meet-and-greet service with transfer to your selected hotel. Accommodation: Superior 4* Hotel: Hotel Geneve or similar. Overnight in Mexico City hotel on a bed-and-breakfast basis.

  • DAY 2 | MEXICO CITY – TEOTIHUACAN – MEXICO CITY (100km – 2 hrs)

Breakfast at the hotel is followed by a visit to the ‘Zocalo’ – the city’s main square – where you find the cathedral and presidential palace. The day continues arriving at the National Anthropology Museum, which houses a priceless collection of artefacts, some dating from as far back 35,000 years ago. Enjoy a guided tour of this purpose-built facility featuring 11 sections dedicated to different eras and civilisations. Perhaps the most famous exhibit is the Aztec sun stone but Olmec sculptures and Mayan murals have lost none of their fascination after all these centuries. Scale models of pre-colonial cities offer an insight into the architectural feats of these ancient peoples despite the rudimentary technologies at their disposal. Having observed artefacts from the different civilisations that inhabited Mexico before the arrival of the Spaniards, it is now time to visit the remnants of one at the well-preserved ruins of Teotihuacan. Ancient Teotihuacan appears to have gone into decline in the sixth century but its influence on later civilisations such as the Aztecs cannot be doubted. Transport yourself back in time as you stroll along the Avenue of the Dead towards the imposing 2,000-year-old Pyramid of the Sun, the third largest in the world, and be overwhelmed by the sheer scale of this once vast city. At the end of the visit, there is some free time to explore the site and to climb one of the colossal pyramids to take in the panoramic views. We then return to the city, stopping at the famous Guadalupe shrine en route to visit both the old and new basilicas. In the evening, return to the hotel with the rest of day at your leisure. Accommodation: Superior 4* Hotel: Hotel Geneve or similar. Overnight in Mexico City hotel on a bed-and-breakfast basis.

  • DAY 3 | MEXICO CITY – TONANTZINTLA – PUEBLA – OAXACA (475km – 6.5 hrs)

Take to the road after breakfast at the hotel, heading northwards through the highlands of the Sierra Mixteca and arriving to Santa Maria Tonantzintla, a temple painstakingly decorated by indigenous hands.Lunch. Continue on, arriving after midday at the colonial city Puebla. Enjoy a panoramic city tour taking in most of the city’s famous churches such as the cathedral, the imposing St Francis with its towering belfry and St Dominic, visiting the latter to admire the gilded and sculpted Rosary Chapel. A short stroll through the picturesque city centre allows you to appreciate the range of architectural styles, with a strong presence of baroque palaces, monasteries and mansions. Local geological features are reflected in the widespread use of cantera stone, a grey volcanic rock, as well as red brick and tiles. Continue your journey to Oaxaca, and check in to your hotel upon arrival, where you will be staying for the next two nights. Overnight in Oaxaca hotel on a bed-and-breakfast basis. Lunch included. Accommodation: Superior 4* Hotel: Mision de los Angeles or similar.

  • DAY 4 | OAXACA – MONTE ALBAN – MITLA – TULE – OAXACA (25km – 1 hr)

After breakfast at the hotel, head to Monte Alban, the ancient Zapotec capital, which is located on the summit of a mountain just a few kilometres west of Oaxaca. This archaeological site combines with colonial Oaxaca to constitute a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Zapotec civilisation came to an end with the Spanish conquest in the 1520s but we can gain an insight into it through this engineering feat 400 metres above the Oaxaca valley. The ruins of pyramids, temples, plazas and other residential structures all centre on the Main Square, a large open area on the artificially flattened mountain top. From here, you can enjoy 360-degree views of the city and valleys below. The relics are in a remarkably good state and the ballgame court looks like it could still be used to practise sports. Next we make our way to Mitla, the ancient religious centre of the Zapotec culture, whose name translates to ‘place of rest’. Here you will find incredible geometric designs covering tombs and walls of the ancient site. Then we continue to the suburb of Santa Maria del Tule to admire the sacred Tule Tree, a Montezuma cypress, which according to local Zapotec legend is about 1,400 years old – and which science appears to confirm. The tree’s gnarled trunk has a circumference of 42 metres and a diameter of 14, making it the stoutest in the world. Return to Oaxaca with the rest of the day at leisure. Overnight in Oaxaca hotel on a bed-and-breakfast basis. Accommodation: Superior 4* Hotel: Mision de los Angeles or similar.

  • DAY 5 | OAXACA – SUMIDERO CANYON – SAN CRISTOBAL DE LAS CASAS (685km – 10 hrs)

Depart Oaxaca early in the morning (between 04:30-05:00 hrs) and enjoy a boxed breakfast on the road. Head to one of Mexico’s outstanding natural attractions, the Sumidero Canyon. This awe-inspiring gorge carved into the earth over millions of years by the River Grijalva has to be one of Mother Nature’s least celebrated masterpieces – which makes the experience of visiting it all the more exciting. During a wondrous boat tour along the imposing canyon bed, you will be able to appreciate just how deep ravine gorge is as you find yourself dwarfed by the sheer scale of its walls covered in thick vegetation and which in places are as high as 1,000 metres. After the boat tour, continue until you reach San Cristobal de las Casas and check in to your hotel. Overnight in San Cristobal de las Casas hotel on a bed-and-breakfast basis. Box breakfast. Accommodation: Superior 4* Hotel: Casa Vieja or similar.

  • DAY 6 | SAN CRISTOBAL – SAN JUAN CHAMULA & ZINACANTAN – SAN CRISTOBAL (30km – 1.5 hrs)

After breakfast we visit San Juan Chamula, which is famed for its whitewashed cathedral with colourful ornamentation and pine scented, candlelit interior, where you can observe the rare religious rituals that the locals perform. The town is almost entirely inhabited by Tzotzil Maya, who apart from speaking their own language also wear distinctive clothing, with the men donning tunics called chujes and the women favouring blouses known as huipils. Chamula is renowned for the quality of its weavers and local shops and markets offer a great variety. Upon your return to San Cristobal, enjoy the afternoon at leisure. We recommend a visit the baroque church of Santo Domingo and the colourful art and food markets where you can admire traditional wear of the Mayan cultures that inhabit the region. Accommodation: Superior 4* Hotel: Casa Vieja or similar. Overnight in San Cristobal de las Casas hotel on a bed-and-breakfast basis. Note: In San Juan Chamula and Zinacantán, photographs or video are prohibited within the temples, of traditional authorities, processions and rituals.

  • DAY 7 | SAN CRISTOBAL – WATERFALLS – PALENQUE (230km – 5.5 hrs)

After breakfast at the hotel, depart from the hotel heading northeast to see beautiful waterfalls in Chiapas. Perhaps some of the most stunning cascades on earth, take a dip in one of the natural pools full of bright blue water. This natural area is sure to impress. After, we continue the journey to the city of Palenque for check-in at your designated hotel. Accommodation: Superior 4* Hotel: Chan-Kah or similar. Overnight in Palenque hotel on a bed-and-breakfast basis. Dinner included.

  • DAY 8 | PALENQUE – CAMPECHE (360km – 4.5 hrs)

Savour a delicious breakfast followed by a visit to the temples of Palenque. This archaeological site boasts some of the finest Mayan architecture, sculpture, roof comb and bas-relief carvings produced. Enjoy a guided tour of the premises. In the impressive Temple of Inscriptions, which reaches almost 23 metres high, the tomb of the Maya ruler was found and excavated in the early 1950s. In its heyday, Palenque was a sprawling city-state that spanned nearly 60 square kilometres but archaeologists estimate that they have excavated only 5-10% of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. So far, more than 200 structures have been unearthed, with the Temple of the Inscriptions, the Palace, the Temple of the Count and the Temple of the Cross the most prominent. Afterward, continue to Campeche for check in at the hotel. Accommodation: Superior 4* Hotel: Plaza Campeche or similar. Overnight in Campeche hotel on a bed-and-breakfast basis. Dinner included.

  • DAY 9 | CAMPECHE – UXMAL – MERIDA (250km – 3.25 hrs)

Today, after breakfast at the hotel, venture out on a panoramic tour of this historic coastal city, driving through the heart of the picturesque old town, with its pastel-coloured colonial houses, colonnaded arcades and bell-gabled churches. Alight and explore further by foot, seeing sights such as ramparts of the old city walls and St Francis’ Cathedral. Depart Campeche and visit the impressive archaeological site of Uxmal and enjoy a guided tour of this UNESCO World Heritage Site, which as you approach it comes into view as it rises above the canopy of the jungle. Unlike other Mayan cities, Uxmal was devoured by the rainforest after the Spaniards had arrived. The most famous structure is the 35-metre-tall Pyramid of the Magician, which towers over the remarkably well-preserved Nunnery Quadrangle with its ornately carved interior and exterior walls. Across the central plaza, just beyond the ballgame court, is the Governor’s Palace with its elaborately decorated roof. At the southern end of the main complex is the Great Pyramid, of which only one side has been excavated with the other three still unclaimed from the bush.Lunch. Then we head to the beautiful colonial white city of Merida where we go a panoramic tour along Merida’s highlights, where we see the Government Palace, City Hall, the Cathedral, Casa de Montejo and a typical market. Accommodation: Superior 4* Hotel: Hotel Gamma by Fiesta Inn “El Castellano” or similar. Overnight in Merida hotel on a bed-and-breakfast basis. Lunch included.

  • DAY 10 | MERIDA – CHICHEN ITZA – CANCUN / RIVIERA MAYA (315km – 4 hrs)

Begin the day with breakfast at the hotel. From Merida, we head to one of the New7Wonders of the World. Head deep into the rainforests of the Yucatan peninsula in search of the legendary Maya city of Chichen Itza, which has been laboriously reclaimed from the jungle. Learn about the Maya and their civilisation as you admire the scale and detail of this ancient city. Behold the geometric perfection of the 25-metre-tall Temple of Kukulkan, popularly known as El Castillo (‘the Castle’), which was built both as a representation of the mystical Maya calendar and to reflect the optical illusion of a serpent snaking its way up or down the pyramid during the spring and autumn equinoxes. Admire the Great Ball Court, the largest of 13 discovered at the site, see the haunting Skull Platform, where the heads of human sacrifice victims and prisoners of war were impaled, and also the Sacred Cenote, where sacrifice victims were dumped. Also extremely well-preserved are the Temple of the Warriors, the Ossuary, the Nunnery and adjacent Church, and the large observatory known as the Snail. Afterwards, we make a final stop at Cenote Ik-Kil where we may be able to swim. Lunch on this place. Arriving to Cancun or Riviera Maya where we drop you off at your selected hotel or at Cancun airport. Breakfast and lunch included.

NH Collection Victoria La Habana Review

Situated in the heart of Havana’s Verdado, this traditional, classical hotel stands proud against the Art Deco buildings and sounds of local jazz clubs. Part of the revolutionary story of Havana, Verdado is a fantastic part of the city and a stay at the Victoria La Habana offers the perfect base from which to explore on foot. The hustle and bustle of local life weaves its way through the historic architecture and classic cars which dot the area. You’re also just a few steps away from the seafront and the famous Malecon, a picturesque walk by day or great spot to watch the sun set. Then after those busy days exploring the Old Town or wandering the length of La Rampa, take a refreshing dip in the outdoor pool or catch the last of the sun’s rays on the patio, whilst sipping on a cold mojito and listening to some local jazz.

Located in the exclusive area of Vedado and a stone’s throw away from the lively beachfront, the NH Collection Victoria La Habana is a convenient distance from the airport, the bustling Old Town and the beach. This newly refurbished 1930s hotel sits near La Rampa market, as well as a wide range of restaurants and bars. Despite its 1930s origin, the hotel’s 31 rooms are designed in a contemporary, minimalist style. Each boasts fresh white décor and sea views. Both standard rooms and junior suites offer flat-screen TVs, welcome cocktails and Wi-Fi to keep you connected. Guests can prepare for the day with a generous breakfast buffet, offering a range of tempting dishes, from cereals and fresh fruit to cold cuts and freshly baked pastries. Intimate gatherings and meetings can be catered for, either in the cozy lobby bar or in the private dining room within the restaurant, which can accommodate up to 14 people,. An outdoor pool is open year-round, with complimentary access for guests.

La Bodeguita del Medio is 2 miles from Hotel Victoria, while Old Square is 2 miles from the property. José Martí International Airport is 10 miles away and Varadero Airport 50 miles.

Vedado district is a great choice for travellers interested in old town exploring, tourist attractions and local food.

A city trapped in time, Havana captures the imagination like no other. Faded glamour meets careful colonial-era reconstruction with a backdrop of irresistible colour. Walk El Malecón, the walkway bordering the ocean; visit Old Havana and the Catedral de San Cristóbal; and listen for salsa music, open-air bazaars and parties that last all night.

This private tour of Beijing offers a complete background on the history and significance of China’s imperial capital city. Destinations such as the Forbidden City and the ancient Great Wall reveal the ingenuity and resourcefulness of the Chinese that is still found today.

Badaling Great Wall
Start the day by visiting the Great Wall, one of China’s most impressive and proudest engineering achievements, with portions of it dating as far back as 500 BC. The Badaling section of the Great Wall, measuring 7,600 meters (4.7 miles), is a very accessible part of this historic monument and was the first section opened to the public in 1957 and enjoyed restorations in 1980. The sights of the wall and the mountainsides all around are very photogenic, and on location, it is easy to learn and imagine the historical significance before your eyes. There are also many typical restaurants in the area. Be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes since there is a lot of walking around today!

Sacred Way (Ming Tombs)
Afterwards walk the Sacred Way, also known as the Ming Tombs. It was believed that this road is the path to heaven, from which the Chinese emperor would arrive from heaven and also return home by. Lined on both sides are a total of 18 pairs of marble figures of fascinating creatures such as dragons, elephants, lions, camels, and more to stand guard over the emperor and ward off evils. At the end of the Sacred Way is the Changling Tomb, the final resting place of the great Emperor Yongle from the Ming Dynasty.

Summer Palace
The Summer Palace is right up there with the Great Wall and the Forbidden City as one of Beijing’s not-to-miss destinations. This beautiful classic Chinese garden and palace was the escape for emperors and their families during the sweltering hot summers that hit the city every year. The landscapes at the Summer Palace are unparalleled, with a gorgeous lake and hilltop views to please all eyes and cameras.

Temple of Heaven
Stop by the Temple of Heaven where Chinese emperors once visited to worship God and offer sacrifices. The entire design of the property is a reflection of Confucian beliefs and theories and is a tranquil escape from the endless bustle otherwise found in Beijing.

Tiananmen Square
The largest public square in the world and site of many historic events from throughout China’s past. Tiananmen Square was designed and built in 1651 and has been enlarged 4 times up until the 1950s.

Forbidden City
Continue through the decorated Gate of Heavenly Peace and into the Forbidden City, the former home of 24 emperors during the Ming and Qing dynasties throughout China’s royal history. That covers more than 500 years of some of China’s most important chapters. The construction of the more than 980 buildings and 8,704 rooms took 14 years to complete, from 1406 to 1420 as commissioned by Emperor Yongle.

When
We advise booking 9-12 months in advance for the best prices. Other dates available from small supplements. Tour can be extended or shortened with hotel stays in Beijing & tailored to your needs, contact our luxury hotel experts for a bespoke quote.

Arrive in Chiang Rai, then collect your luggage and meet our representative on the exit of the Customs Hall who will be holding a sign with your name on it and transfer and check-in at the hotel with the rest of the day free at leisure. Maybe explore the heart of the old town, which dates from the reign of King Mangrai in the 13th century or stroll around the bustling night bazaar to get a flavour of what makes Chiang Rai tick. Overnight in hotel in Chiang Rai. Accomodation: 4* Hotel.

Day 2 Chiang Rai – Golden Triangle
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before heading to the centre to admire the iconic monument to King Mangrai en route to the Hilltribe Museum and Education Centre. Learn all about the dozens of hill tribes who for centuries have lived in the highlands around the city and how they have survived the spread of globalisation. Continue to the Mae Chan district to explore the remote hill tribe villages of Yao and Akha peoples, and experience their way of life first-hand. Take to the road for Mae Sai, a small border town with a busy market, before heading into the heart of the infamous Golden Triangle, where Thailand, Laos and Myanmar meet. This natural wilderness gained an unwanted notoriety in the Sixties because of the abundant opium cultivation in the area. After lunch, continue to Chiang Saen to visit the hilltop Wat Phra That Chom Kitti, which is reached via a 350-step staircase. Return to Chiang Rai with rest of the day free at leisure. Overnight in hotel in Chiang Rai on selected board basis. Accomodation: 4* Hotel.

Day 3 Chiang Rai – Chiang Mai
Take to the road after breakfast at the hotel, heading for Chiang Mai. On the southern outskirts of Chiang Rai, stop at the magnificent Wat Rong Khun, a dazzling temple built in the 1990s. Its ornate all-white exterior, with embedded pieces of mirror, gives it a resplendent appearance, which makes it one of the most beautiful temples in Thailand. Continue to Chiang Mai and, on arrival, visit Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, one of the most revered temples in the country. This sacred location is at the top of a mountain from where you can appreciate stunning panoramic views over the city. To reach the temple requires a climb up a 309-step naga staircase. Alternatively, you can use the cable car (included) to reach the temple. Head to the riverbank and board a boat for a cruise along the scenic River Ping and drop by a farm to savour a delicious khao soi noodle curry as you enjoy dance performances while feasting on a traditional khantoke meal. After a walk through the local flower and fresh produce market, return to the hotel. Overnight in hotel in Chiang Mai on selected board basis. Accomodation: 4* Hotel.

Day 4 Chiang Mai – Chiang Dao – Chiang Mai
Take a walk on the wild side after breakfast, with a visit to an elephant camp in Chiang Dao province. The camp is located in a rainforest by the River Ping and offers a perfect natural habitat for appreciating these gentle giants. Learn about Asian elephants – their nature, their individual traits, their lifestyles, their talents and their charms, and get a glimpse into the unique and very real relationships between elephants and their mahouts. After lunch in a local restaurant, continue to Chiang Mai for an afternoon exploring this ancient city. Chiang Mai’s old town is still surrounded by remnants of the old defensive walls and a moat. Visit the historic Wat Suan Dok and admire its 48- metre-high Sri Lankan-style chedi, which overlooks the Royal Cemetery. Continue to Wat Phra Sing in the old town and appreciate the beauty of this large complex of more than 60 buildings before visiting 14th century Wat Chedi Luang in the very heart of the old city. In the evening, you can enjoy an optional khantoke dinner (not included). Overnight in hotel in Chiang Mai on selected board basis. Accomodation: 4* Hotel.

Day 5 Chiang Mai – Lamphun – Lampang – Sukhothai

Pick-up at 08:00 from your hotel in Chiang Mai city. Depart for Lamphun to visit Wat Phra That Hariphunchai, a golden temple complex whose origins have been traced to the Mon Kingdom in the eighth century, before arriving at the picturesque town of Lampang to visit the historic temple of Wat Phra That Lampang Luang. After lunch, relax with a scenic drive to Sukhothai Historical Park, arriving in the late afternoon. Explore the park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site covering the ruins of ancient Sukhothai, which was the first capital of the kingdom of the same name. Overnight in hotel in Sukhothai on selected board basis. Accomodation: 4* Hotel.

Day 6 Sukhothai – Uthai Thani – Ayutthaya
A spiritual start to the day as you join locals in offering food to Buddhist monks during their morning alms round. Drive south and break for lunch in Chai Nat. Today’s route from Sukhothai via Uthai Thani to Ayutthaya mirrors the southward expansion of Siam, following the kingdom’s historical development. On arrival to Ayutthaya, a former capital of Siam, head to Ayutthaya Historical Park to visit the temple of Wat Phra Si Sanphet and the adjacent Viharn Phra Mongkol Bophit to contemplate the golden Buddha. Continue to the eerily enchanting ruins of Wat Phra Mahathat, with its famous statue of Buddha devoured by tree roots. Such a heavenly heritage ensemble has earned this historical park the status of UNESCO World Heritage Site. Overnight in hotel in Ayutthaya on selected board basis. Accomodation: 4* Hotel.

Day 7 Ayutthaya – Kanchanaburi
Drive through pastoral landscapes virtually untouched by the passage of time before arriving at Kanchanaburi, a quiet town at the confluence of the rivers Kwai Noi and Kwai Yai. It is renowned for the beauty of its natural surroundings and abundant wildlife but it also holds an unwanted place in history as the location of the notorious World War II ‘Death Railway Bridge’, immortalised in the Hollywood classic, The Bridge on the River Kwai. Visit the war cemetery, the final resting place of thousands of soldiers, and the Thailand-Burma Railway Centre to learn about the appalling conditions in which Allied POWs and Thai slave labourers worked to build a military supply railway. After lunch, enjoy an afternoon of free time to rest or enjoy of Kanchanaburi. Overnight in hotel in Kanchanaburi on selected board basis. Accomodation: 4* Hotel.

Day 8 Kanchanaburi – Bangkok
Depart Kanchanaburi after breakfast at the hotel with a scenic drive to Nakhon Pathom to visit the temple with the magnificent 127-metre-high Phra Pathommachedi stupa, the tallest of its kind in the world. Continue to Damnoen Saduak, which is famed for its vibrant and colourful floating markets. Breathe in the fragrances of the orient as dozens of boats glide along, selling fresh fruit and vegetables as well as tasty local delicacies. The buzz of the noise and the bustle of activity are quintessential Thai experiences. Continue to Bangkok. Overnight in hotel in Bangkok. Breakfast and lunch included. Accomodation: 4* Hotel.

Day 9 Bangkok
Full day at leisure to discover Bangkok on your own. For those who have never been to Bangkok we suggest a half day tour of the most popular Buddhist temple and Landmark in the city of angels (optional, not included). The Royal Grand Palace, a great architectural masterpiece of several buildings from the outside and a magical inside was used as a royal residence from the 18th century to the mid-20th century. It is without any doubt a national reference and possibly the most visited royal monument of Thailand, and it shouldn’t be missed. The building houses the “Wat Phra Kaew”, Bangkok’s most sacred temple, in which is located the famous Emerald Buddha. In the evening we suggest you enjoy an optional Thai and International Buffet Dinner whilst cruising along the Chao Phraya River or River of the Kings. Pass by famous sites such as Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn) and the Grand Palace. Entertainment is also provided on board with live music and a ‘show’ (Dinner Cruise is not included). Sevilla: For centuries, Spanish conquistadors set off on their voyages of discovery from Seville, Europe’s foremost gateway to the New World. Now you can discover the old world charm of the capital of Andalusia, an elegant and cosmopolitan city that will keep you enthralled and your photo album full. Seville has a special colour, a popular Spanish song claims, and you will see just why from the ornate tiles of the Plaza de España, which will be familiar to Star Wars fans, to the golden hue of the Giralda, the belfry of Seville Cathedral that began life as a mosque’s minaret. Your specialist local guide will help you uncover the history surrounding the cathedral, the third largest in Europe, with its magnificent altar and the tomb where Christopher Columbus is said to be buried. Adjacent to the Cathedral is a picturesque patio dating from Moorish times that houses orange groves. During the tour through the narrow, winding streets of Santa Cruz, the old Jewish Quarter, discover hidden squares and courtyards cooled by fountains and orange trees. And if you’re lucky, you may even chance upon a lone flamenco guitarist, strumming a hauntingly beautiful tune. Admire the refined renaissance architecture of the General Archive of the Indies, which is one of three Unesco World Heritage Sites in the Seville; the others being the cathedral and the Moorish Alcazar, Europe’s oldest royal palace. With so much to see and do, this beautiful city is an absolute must for any visitor to Andalusia. The trip to Sevilla lasts around 3 hours with a coffee break on the way. You’ll get to Sevilla at about 11am. You’ll leave Sevilla at around 4pm and get to your hotel between 7pm and 9pm.

Cordoba: Immerse yourself in this ancient melting pot of cultures with this fascinating full-day tour to Cordoba, where Christianity, Islam and Judaism thrived and coexisted peacefully. Now a bustling provincial capital, Cordoba was once the largest city in the world, a vast multicultural centre of learning. On this full day guided tour, you will be dazzled by the colourful patios, enchanted by the narrow alleys bedecked with plants and awestruck by the elaborate beauty of the religious architecture. The city also has a wealth of Roman remains, with the ruins of a temple and a mausoleum in the centre and a 2,000-year-old, 16-arch bridge spanning the River Guadalquivir. But it’s the monumental Mosque-Cathedral, a Unesco World Heritage Site, which is the city’s most famous attraction. Wander through a maze of magnificent Moorish arches and pillars to discover the stunning Catholic cathedral built at the centre of this truly captivating religious building. Stroll through the old Jewish Quarter and see the synagogue, with its intricate Arabesque décor. Lose yourself in the labyrinthine streets around the Mosque-Cathedral and suddenly find yourself in historic plazas that are mentioned in Don Quixote. Be mesmerised by cool little squares, offering shade from the blistering sun, and redolent with plants and flowers. Marvel at the medieval churches and renaissance, and baroque palaces. Relax in the peaceful landscaped gardens of the Alcazar of the Christian kings.

Granada & The Alhambra: Take a step back in time and discover one of Spain’s greatest treasures, the Alhambra of Granada. See the opulence in which medieval Muslim princes lived with this guided tour of a palace complex that was described by contemporary poets as a ‘pearl set in emeralds’ and has long been considered the ‘eighth wonder of the world’. The Alhambra is set in a stunning location overlooking the city and nestling at the foot of the snow-capped Sierra Nevada. Considered the finest example of Arab architecture in Spain, the palace and its gardens were built to be ‘heaven on earth’, with cool patios, fountains and intricate carvings still as clear as when it was first built. Marvel at the elaborate beauty of the Royal Complex, where you will find rooms decorated in honeycomb Arabesque plaster work, such as the Court of the Myrtles and the Hall of the Ambassadors, and the architectural and hydraulic engineering gem that is the Court of Lions, which Islamic poets said was the physical realisation of paradise. Stroll over to the Generalife Palace and its lush gardens, where the Muslim emirs retreated at summer to relax to the soothing sound of water. Take advantage of some free time in the city centre, where you may visit the impressive Cathedral and Royal Chapel or wander through the spice market. Return to the coast with your senses alive with scented gardens and images of Arabian nights.

Ronda & Costa de la Luz Tour: (Optional tour £45pp) Begin your tour with a wealth of contrasts: fields of crops, valleys, hillsides and typical white villages. From Cuevas del Becerro venture into the province of Cadiz, to discover one of its prettiest villages: Setenil de las Bodegas, which is famous for having many of its houses built into the rock, and known locally as “shelter under the rock”. Approximate duration of the walk: 45 minutes. After your walk, you will return to to the province of Malaga, namely Ronda, where you will take a stroll through the Alameda gardens and the balconies overlooking the Tagus river, and pass by the Bullring, one of the oldest in Spain. Time for a traditional aperitif at one of the town’s most prestigious bars. Cross the New Bridge, with its spectacular views over the Tagus river, and hike to the Medina, or old Moorish quarter, with its narrow streets and little squares, where you will visit a 19th-century Palatial Home. Lastly, delve into the heart of the old town, the Plaza Duquesa de Parcent square, where the Church of Santa María la Mayor and the Town Hall are located, among other emblematic buildings. Approximate duration of the tour: 2 hours We will return to the market area, where you can enjoy some free time for lunch and shopping. On the back back, the tour will take you on a route from Ronda to San Pedro de Alcántara (Marbella), which will offer you fantastic mountainous landscapes with a range of colour contrasts due to the wide variety of native botanical species in this area.
