Christmas markets, as you know them from northern countries, are very different in Rome. There are amazing nativity scenes with sweets and stalls.
Until January 6, Piazza Navona hosts the Festa della Befana, the festival of the witch. A special attraction for young and old is the beautiful carousel. In addition to sweets, especially toys and Christmas decorations are sold. The serving of food and drinks is not common. You can find also some craft shops, especially traditional cribs, and a puppet theater.
A nice market is at the Auditorium Parco della Musica. At the Auditorium is also a ice skating rink. You can get to the Auditorium with tram line 2 from Piazzale Flaminio.
Other markets are spread over the city, mostly in tents, where everything from used books to fashion jewelry is sold.
